People’s National Congress Reform member Ernest Elliot last weekend swooped past Regional Chairman Clement Corlette for the post of Region Four party chairman.

The Regional Democratic Council (RDC) chairman contested the inter-party elections which formed part of the party’s regional conference held at Congress Place, Sophia on Sunday last.

Corlette contested the post but lost to Elliot while Earle Lambert has been elected Vice Chairman, Ann Greene Secretary and Dave Danny treasurer.

Llewlyn John was elected to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the region while Joan Haynes, Mark Rodrigues and Joan Baveghems are the new committee members. In times past the regional chairman occupied both posts since the party’s rules do not object to this, General Secretary Oscar Clarke told Stabroek News.

He pointed out too that it was not unusual that the post is shared. Corlette is presently the Chairman of the Region Four Regional Democratic Council.

Over the next few weeks the party will host more conferences in the other administrative regions.
