Police yesterday intercepted over three kilos of cocaine and over 200 grammes of ganja at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) which were concealed in two outgoing post office mail bags and arrested a man and five women as investigations continue.

A press release from the police stated that at 8 am yesterday, ranks of the police narcotics branch intercepted 3kgs 863 grams of cocaine and 237 grams of cannabis at the CJIA, which were concealed in two outgoing post office mail bags. The drugs were found while the mail bags were being checked through the x-ray scanner.

A man and five women have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with investigations, the release said.
