A man who the police suspect was the driver of the car used by bandits during the armed robbery at the home of Anna Catherina businessman Basdeo Sahadar,

was held yesterday and a large quantity of money was seized from his hotel room. According to a police press release issued last evening “diligent investigations” led to the arrest of the man in Kitty. The release further stated that a total of $1.8M cash, suspected to have been stolen from Sahadar was seized from the man’s hotel room. He i s in police custody assisting with the investigations.

This suspect is the second so far to be arrested by police. Police acting on information received arrested the first suspect on Wednesday.

The release said that a motorcar suspected to have been used by the bandits during the robbery was also recovered in the city.

During the ordeal which lasted less than five minutes, the gunmen shot and robbed Sahadar of an undisclosed sum of money.
