Prisoner on ganja trafficking charge

A man who is currently serving a fifteen-year sentence at the Camp Street prison appeared on Wednesday in court charged with having over 350 grammes of cannabis in his possession at the facility.

Kwame Bhagwandin pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking after it was read to him by Magistrate Hazel Octive Hamilton.

It is alleged that on November 19, Bhagwandin had 354 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The matter was adjourned to March 12 next year when the trial will commence.
