The walls came tumbling down

The walls of a home on Eleventh Street, Diamond Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara collapsed yesterday sending its occupants running for safety.

The occupants of the house were treated briefly at the East Demerara Regional Hospital and sent away and have since been relocated.

When this newspaper visited the house last evening, the occupants had already been relocated and damage to the building was visible. It was also evident that an expansion of the building was in progress.

A neighbour told Stabroek News that the family had first constructed a wooden building but started expansion in concrete and it was the walls of the building which started to collapse yesterday.

Stabroek News understands that the occupants have been accommodated by relatives.
