Porkknocker, 61, charged with attempted murder

A 61-year-old porkknocker, who stabbed a man several times after accusing him of stealing, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of attempted murder.

Winston Nurse of 13 Miles Port Kaituma, North West District was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle and he was later remanded to prison.

It is alleged that on December 17 at 13 Miles Backdam, Arakaka, North West District, he wounded Brian Mc Pherson, called ‘Trini’.

On the day in question, Nurse allegedly went to the complainant’s camp and accused him of stealing some articles from him. A heated argument developed and Nurse dealt the complainant several chops about the body. The injured man was picked up and rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital but was later transferred to the Georgetown Hospital owing to the nature and serious of his injuries.

Nurse was arrested and charged with the offence.

The matter continues on February 5 at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
