Essequibo man held with air rifle

An Essequibo farmer is in police custody after a search on the vehicle he was driving unearthed an air rifle.

Police in a statement yesterday said that just after 3 pm on Friday officers stopped and searched the man’s vehicle at a roadblock on the Devonshire Castle Public Road.

The air rifle, police said, was found in the trunk of the vehicle and the man was taken into custody to assist with investigations.
