Casinos will give visitors something to do

Dear Editor,

Guyanese returning to Guyana for a visit are usually at a loss for night entertainment.

I fel that a casino that is well regulated and monitored will be welcome in the community. I feel the religious leaders have a valid complaint but why not ban alcohol and nightclubs and horseracing etc.

Casinos will provide employment and cash to the country which would otherwise not be spent here. Maybe some of that can go to controlling the real crime in Guyana.

It would be shortsighted to ban casinos here as those overseas visitors will spend their money in some other country.

Yours faithfully,

P. Rampersaud
