What does DirecTV offer?

Dear Editor,

I am a subscriber to Direct TV, and have been so for approximately one year. I am sure that I am not the only frustrated subscriber, since I have spoken to many of my friends who feel the same way as I do.

The problem I have with the service offered, is that it is in Spanish and I live in an English speaking country. All you get are reruns from two or three years ago. You also see the same programmes from morning to night, repeated again and again. The only channels that are in English are News and Sports.

Why is Guyana the only country that does not have proper cable companies. I am only aware of one company, which unfortunately is only allowed to transmit to a certain area on the East Bank of Demerara.

Yours faithfully,

Frustrated Subscriber

Editor’s note

This writer who gives us no name or address cannot be a subscriber as he appears completely unaware of what DirecTV offers. The 24 hour satellite service offers in English News Channels (BBC, CNN, Fox, Bloomberg), National Geographic, Discovery, People and Arts, History Channel, A&E Mundo, Film and Arts, Sports channels (ESPN 1 and 2, Fox, Golf Channel – Fox and one ESPN channel are in Spanish) American mainstream channels (ABC, CBS, NBC), a large number of film channels which offer a wide variety of films, Kids channels, fashion, gourmet and Disney channels, 48 audio channels.

There are also Spanish language channels.
