Dear Editor,

After reading the article headlined ” Annai School students had food problem on one day” (SN 6.10.07), I feel it would be remiss of me if I did not comment on the statement by Regional Chairman Lucas that “Kissoon (a contractor) does not have access to a telephone”. I would like to inform the public that GT&T has installed Rural Area Wireless Booths in Annai as well as in Sand Creek. The numbers are as follows:

Annai – 772-9280

Sand Creek – 772-9285

I extend my humble apology to GT&T and to Mr. Joe Singh, (Major General Retired) who have contributed in many other ways towards development in the Rupununi and Guyana as a whole.

I view the situation as a serious one and not as the Regional Chairman stated, “I think it is just a breakdown in communication but we are on top of the situation now”. A breakdown in communication could never be an acceptable excuse, as the following avenues are available in the Annai District:

1. A phone booth

2. An Internet caf
