Dear Editor,

Reading Oppenheimer’s Latin View column in the Stabroek News of October 5 made me stop to think. Just imagine the German Chancellor comparing President Ahmadinejad of Iran to Hitler. All the western leaders accuse Ahmadinejad of sponsoring terrorism, but Iran has not attacked its neighbours nor tried to wipe out a nation. Israel on the other hand is committing every crime against the Palestinians and bombing its neighbours yet Angela Merkel has seen Ahmadinejad as another Hitler and not the Israeli leader nor Bush and Blair who have turned Iraq into a bloody, fiery hell.

Ahmadinejad is preparing his country for the attack that America, England, France and others are arming Israel to carry out. Even when the great Sir Winston Churchill did not believe that Hitler would turn his attention to Russia, Stalin suspected it. Likewise, Ahmadinejad is aware of what the western powers are planning and so he is getting ready for the attack, and as such the Iran President is within his rights to prepare his weapons.

It is of great importance that Ahmadinejad form an alliance with the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. This world needs men like Ahmadinejad and Chavez. They would not allow themselves to be dictated to by the western powers. The alliance of Chavez and Ahmadinejad will bring good things to the Latin Americans who have for so long watched their raw material shipped out west and got almost nothing in return.

Finally, the conference Condoleezza Rice will be holding next month on the Palestinian issue is really a puppet show. Just imagine holding a conference on Palestine with the Palestinian representative not there.
