Minister Lall has lost credibility

Dear Editor,

The recent incident involving Minister Lall and another individual where shots were fired by the Minister should not be taken lightly. This irresponsible action by the Minister has far-reaching legal consequences.

It is obvious that the minister overstepped his bounds in acting in an unprofessional and undignified manner inconsistent with the code of ethics for government ministers.

Minister Lall was asked to surrender his weapon by the police, which was a legitimate request by the law enforcement authorities.

As a result of Minister Lall’s personal and unprofessional actions, Minister Lall has lost credibility with the Guyanese public. No irresponsible individual should be permitted to hold senior positions in the government. As Guyana moves ahead on the world stage and seeking global recognition, there should be zero tolerance for unprofessional and unethical conduct by any government official.

Yours faithfully,

A Singh
