A demeaning charade about the President

Dear Editor,

They say “if you can’t beat them, insult them!”

The report titled ” President Jagdeo does not understand conventions – PNCR” is another desperate attempt by the PNCR (KN 07.12.07) to get much-needed attention.

Central Executive Member of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), Aubrey Norton went on a demeaning charade about the President. Any logical minded individual will see that Aubrey Norton, while he is free to express his opinion, is jealous that the PNCR is not in power and most likely, never will be in power with the kind of comments spewing from the PNCR.

President Jagdeo has credibility in many international forums today. Name calling and making demeaning comments about the President will continue to get the PNCR nowhere but will maintain their permanent status as an ineffective opposition.

Guyana will be better served with an opposition that focuses on issues and offers positive and constructive comments to solve them. There are many issues facing our country (drugs, crime, guns, piracy, etc) and the PNCR is choosing to neglect these issues and turn to demeaning name calling.

Yours faithfully,

Anand Persaud
