Dear Editor,

Andaiye Moore in her letter captioned “Our Afro-centric thinkers should demand affirmative action for all disadvantaged Guyanese” (07.12.10) referred to Modibo as an African Philosopher and divisive. The sarcasm is not missed. I am no philosopher neither am I divisive. I continue to learn from fearless leaders like Nelson Mandela who specifically fought for and achieved representation and equality for Africans in South Africa, as did Mahatma Gandhi for Indians in India, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for African Americans in USA. Their actions and results every Guyanese can benefit from. Prior to their successes their countries were solely governed by whites with Africans and Indians being unrepresented and treated as unequals. Because these gentlemen’s strategies are globally honoured and emulated Andaiye Moore should explain what she means that my advocacy for similar action/result “is inimical to nation building and defeatist to disaggregate the interests of the Afro Guyanese from the main stream approach to good governance
