Dear Editor,

Jumping into the rough waters of the Berbice River this past week as I travelled on the Motor Vessel Torani seemed to be the best alternative rather than to sit and endure the pungent scent of the washroom facilities. It was disgusting! Aren’t persons paid to clean and sanitize these areas in the steamers? For a long time this has been a problem whenever travelling with the New Amsterdam to Rosignol steamer service. Then again passengers ought to be blamed maybe for misusing these facilities.

I would never use the washroom facilities in these steamers. They are nauseating, and the authorities need to take note! What are the visitors to our country who reside in Berbice and must utilize the services of the Transport & Harbours Depart-ment saying? There are seats on the steamer right next to these facilities?

These are the small things which determine our capabilities as a nation to sell Guyana as a real tourism product.

Yours faithfully,

Leon Jameson Suseran
