Private security agency is focusing on piracy

Dear Editor,

My agency, the Central Bureau of Intelligence and Security (CBI) is very concerned about the ever increasing and seemingly uncontrollable acts of piracy and murder of innocent hardworking fishermen.

In view of this, CBI has embarked on ‘Operation Intercept’ aimed at identifying those involved, their current location, modus operandi, their contacts, associates and where possible to infiltrate their network and by virtue of intelligence gathered and passed to the law enforcement agencies have these culprits brought to justice.

We are cognizant of the fact that the key to putting an end to piracy is through intelligence gathering, enabling a proactive approach as the armed forces are ill equipped to react in a timely manner due to various constraints.

I am confident with the launch of our operation and Commodore Gary Best’s plan of action there will soon be a marked decrease in acts of piracy.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Gates
