The Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) selective committee is to select a team to represent Guyana in the upcoming PAN-American boxing matches. The committee will meet on Sunday February 4 at Olympic House in Queenstown to decide who will be taking part in the PANAM “Box-Off”.

Members of GABA selective committee include Affeeze Khan (president), Rudolph Torrington (GABA chairman and selective committee vice-president), Keith French (vice-president), Carl Franklin (national coach) and Evan Parris (academy instructor).

In an interview with Stabroek Sport, the GABA president expressed his deep concern over boxing coaches who send their novices rather than older experienced boxers to compete in both local and overseas tournaments and who are continually unsuccessful in their bouts. Khan said, however, his boxers are training hard in preparing themselves for the PANAM tour.
