The Yamaha Caribs 15th Anniversary Sevens tournament which kicks off at the National Park rugby playing field today, is expected to be a day of serious rugby action and off the field fun with a touch of international flavor.

Caribbean Cougars of the United States and Trinidad and Tobago Enthusiasts Over-35 players will join local clubs in the tournament which will feature both male and female teams.

Troy Yhip, Public Relations officer of Yamaha Caribs disclosed that the Cougars team was a combination of Guyanese and Jamaican rugby players residing in the United States.

They arrived in Guyana earlier this week.

Mike’s Pharmacy is the sponsor of the female competition, while former President of Yamaha Caribs Kit Nascimento is sponsoring the male division. The participating teams are Caribs, Hornets, Guyana Defence Force along with the two visiting clubs.

Yhip disclosed that the Club also received assistance from Robert Persaud Jewelry who donated the shirts for the referees.
