Grand horse race meet set for December 9

The Management committee of the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club (formerly Silver Park Turf Club) will run off a one-day horse racing meet on December 9 at the Number 6 Village West Coast Berbice.

Eight races are carded for the day, with the first event going off from 13:30 hrs (1:30pm).

There will also be two feature events, the first of which will involve the C Class and Lower horses over a distance of 1200m with the winner to receive $200,000.00.

The runner-up will receive $100,000.00 with $50,000 and $25,000 going to the third and fourth-placed finishers respectively.

The other feature event will be for three-year-old horses who will also cover a distance of 1200m with the victor collecting $150,000.00. The first, second and third runners-up will receive $75,000, $39,000.00 and $19,000.00 each respectively.

There will also be races for the F and G class horses, the I Class, the J and K class, the L class and the Unclassified horses.

Most of the country’s top horses are set to compete in the event with entries closing on December 2 at the club’s office situated Number Six Village, West Coast Berbice.
