Enzo Matthews wins Grace Chips 35-lap race

Junior rider Enzo Matthews, in a time of one hour, 25 minutes and 57.2 seconds won the feature 35-lap race in the Grace Foods International 11-race Cycle programme yesterday at the National Park.

With most of the riders resting for today’s DDL-sponsored 50-mile road race in West Demerara, Matthews made light work of his opponents in the main race of the day.

In second position was Jaikaran Sukhai with Terrance Boodram finishing third, Royston Anderson fourth, Virgil Anderson fifth and Monty Parris sixth.

The prime point prizes were shared between Matthews and John Charles with Charles capturing four and Matthews two.

Matthews also won the Juveniles 10-lap event beating into second position Scott Savoury.

Ryan Bhagwandin was the winner of the of the 12-14 three-lap race beating into second position Asif Shaw with K. Mc Kenzie occupying the third position.

Anthony Freeman won the BMX boys 9-12 three lap race with Orlando King second and Alli Baksh third.

Ashley Alli won the 12-14 year event from Niomi Singh, while Virgil Jones was triumphant in the veterans over-45 five-lap race with Kennard Lovell second and Boodram third.

Aubrey Greavesande copped first place in the Veterans over-45 race with A. Farria second and Monty Parris third.

Richard Charles won the Upright cycle five-lap race from A. Perry and D. Wilson.

Jonathan Fagundes was triumph in the Boys Open three-lap race from B. Baker and K. Edwards.

R. Perez carted off the boys BMX 6-9 two-lap event with R .McLean placing second and D. Hilwig third.

Cycling Coach Hassan Mohaned said it was a perfect finish to his 2007 National Park cycling programme.

Geddes Grant Ltd. Brand manager for Grace Chips Wasim Ali said he was energized by the response to the race and indicated that he will be approaching Grace Foods International for continued sponsorship of the event.

Geddes Grant Ltd. is the sole distributors of Grace Plantain chips which was distributed to all participants and officials at yesterday’s race programme.
