A stellar performance by Sultan Safdar powered Enterprise Sports Club (ESC) to a crushing win over North Soesdyke in the semi-final of the Hand-in-Hand first-division limited-overs cricket competition on Saturday.
The match was played at the Enterprise Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.
Off-spinner Safdar mesmerized the Soesdyke batsmen, grabbing 3-11 off 6.3 overs.
When ESC batted, Safdar blasted the top-score of 50 not out (8x4s), off 35 balls.
Batting first, North Soesdyke was routed for a paltry 75 off 28.3 overs, with only R. Gangaram (18) and O. George (14) reaching double figures.
Bowling for ESC, R. Pooran, (2-20); M. Ramdass (2-17); and C. Singh (2-13), provided admirable support to Safdar.
ESC replied with 76-2 off 11.4 overs to win by eight wickets.
Bowling for North Soesdyke, O. George and D. Sarjoo took 1-27 and 1-11, respectively.
Safdar was deservedly named man-of-the-match.
