Despite the recent pronouncement that the current, no pun intended, blackout will continue for the holidays, Christmas is looking bright for the national cricket team. On Friday they won half-a-million dollars. Yester-day it was a million.

In a specially arranged twenty-20 game against the visiting USA cricket team which comprises several former national cricketers, the Guyana team coasted to a five-wicket victory at the National Stadium at Providence.

Batting first the USA posted 104-6 off their allotted overs. Neil MC Garrell topscored with 22 off 23 balls with one six.

In reply Travis Dowlin with his second man-of-the-match award on consecutive days scored 48 off 44 balls with five fours. He received excellent support from Ramesh Narine with 32 from 27 balls with four boundaries.

Reon King bagged 2-8 while Mc Garrell crowned a fine all round display with 2-21.

Dowlin received $50,000 for being adjudged man-of-the-match while Ramesh Narine and Reon King received $20,000 each for being adjudged best bowler and batsman respectively.

The two teams will meet again on Tuesday at the Albion Sports Complex ground in a 40-overs-a-side fixture.
