GCA goes online

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) can now be found online at their new website www.gcacricket.com, following its successful launching at the Bryden and Fernandes office, Water Street, yesterday.

Information on a cricketer’s diet, fixtures and statistics, club profiles, tips and other cricket related news for youngsters can be found on the site and there is also space for businesses to advertise.

In a brief statement, president of the GCA, Bish Panday, told the media that it was a great pleasure for his association to take the step in their attempt to modernize the game of cricket in Georgetown.

“When I assumed office in May, I did say that technology would help us to drive some of our projects. Today, my executives and I are delighted that that stage has been reached, but there is still a lot more that needs to be done, and work is in progress with adjustments being made from time to time to make this process user friendly.” The executives sought and got the permission from Wisden, the cricket bible to reproduce coaching tips from their magazine on the site, and this is being called “The Cricketer Tips”.

The GCA is encouraging all and sundry to utilize this information as they continue to work towards developing not only the site, but cricket on the whole in Georgetown.

Vice president of the GCA, Alfred Mentore, mentioned how delighted he was to see a major business entity as Bryden and Fernandes taking the lead in partnering with the GCA.

“We truly accept and acknowledge this move by a corporate giant in the business industry in Guyana and look forward for other partners making the same move so that this initiative can be sustained,” he remarked.

Marketing manager of both the GCA and Bryden and Fernandes Limited, Beverly Harper highlighted how pleased she was to launch this site.

“I am very proud to take this step with the GCA. Now the entire world can see what is happening with cricket here in Georgetown.”
