The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) says the semi-finals of the International Qaseeda Competition will be hosted in Guyana on Sunday.

A press release from the CIOG, the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) and the Anjuman Hifazatul Islam said the competition will be held at the MYO auditorium from 9 am. The groups said admission is free and lunch will be served to the contestants and the audience.

Guyana’s finalists will be declared after the contest and they will represent the country, in Trinidad, over the Easter weekend. The championship trophy will be presented to the territory with the highest aggregate of points. The groups said the competition is an annual event hosted in honour of the prophet Muhammad.
