This year the Ministry of Housing will vigorously repossess house lots from allottees who have failed to pay or have delayed construction for prolonged periods.

Housing Minister Harrinarine Nawbatt made the announcement at the ministry’s first press conference for the year, and advised that even though the ministry understood the financial constraints facing some persons, the issue was one that had to be addressed.

The minister was unable to say exactly how many house lots had been repossessed by the ministry over the last year but insisted that the ministry would be aggressive in doing so this year.
