Fire guts Lusignan home

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire of unknown origin that totally destroyed a Lusignan, East Coast Demerara home on Friday night.

Police said the one-flat wooden structure belonged to Nankumarie Parbhu and family. Stabroek News understands that no one was at home at the time of the fire and the family have since said that the house had no electricity and that there was no illegal connection.

The family was at Annandale, East Coast Demerara when they received the call and when they rushed to the scene the house was already gutted.

Firemen managed to save a leather-craft workshop. Nothing else was saved.
