Following the death of a 49-year-old man last year November, the police have suspended the driver’s licence of a man who was driving the vehicle involved in the fatal accident.

According to a release from the police, the driver’s licence of Deodat Balkarran of Lot 10 Chelsea Park, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was suspended after he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving on November 16, 2007.

The accident occurred on the Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara. Balkarran was driving a car which became involved in an accident with a motor lorry resulting in the death of Noel Roach of Second Street, Agricola.

The police issued a photograph of Balkarran in keeping with their activities in relation to the zero tolerance traffic enforcement campaign ‘Operation Safeway.’
