CCWU, Bank of Baroda ink labour agreement

The Clerical and Commercial Workers’ Union (CCWU) and the Bank of Baroda recently signed a three-year Collective Labour Agreement that outlines improvement in salaries and other conditions of employment which are said to be substantial.

The agreement which took effect from January 1 is the first one between the two parties and follows a Recognition Agreement the CCWU signed with Baroda some months ago, the union said in a press release.

The agreement which relates to the bank’s employees, including supervisors, also deals with several allowances such as meals, out of base, cashier, entertainment, telephone and leave passage.

In addition, the release said, there are improvements in leave conditions and uniforms.

And Baroda also agreed not to discriminate against any employee tested and diagnosed HIV positive.

Signing on behalf of the union were Fitzgerald Agard, General President, Ann Anderson, Principal Assistant General Secretary, and Sherwood Clarke, Field Secretary. Baroda’s Managing Director R.K. Sharma signed on behalf of the bank, while Chief Labour Officer Mohamed Akeel countersigned the agreement on behalf of the Ministry of Labour.
