Police probing murder of miner at Bartica

Police are investigating the murder of Clement Obermuller, which occurred about 4.20 am on Sunday at Karibisee Hill, Bartica, a police press release said yesterday.

The release said investigations revealed that Obermuller, a 26-year-old miner of Third Avenue, Bartica, was among a group of persons partying when an argument developed between himself and another man over a woman.

He was subsequently stabbed in the chest and pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital.

Police said the suspect and the knife believed to have been used are in police custody. The police said also that they are investigating the death of Elvis Daniels, a 37-year-old saw operator, whose body was found about 3.30 am on Sunday in the Kairuni area, Linden/Soesdyke High-way, with head injuries. The body is at the Wismar Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
