Lamaha Park woman chopped

A 47-year-old woman was chopped in the head by a cutlass-wielding man, who was shortly after captured by public-spirited citizens following a chase at Lamaha Park yesterday.

Rosette Valentine of Lamaha Park is currently in a stable condition in the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). She reportedly suffered a fractured skull and is nursing chop wounds to the head. The woman’s daughter, Shondell Williams told Stabroek News that her mother was leaving to go to work at around 8 am when she was attacked by the man.

She said that the man began chopping her mother and continued to do so even after she had fallen. “She fall and he still continue chopping”, she stated. Williams said that nothing was taken from her mother and they did know who the man was.

Following the attack, public-spirited citizens noticed the woman’s plight and gave chase after the man who ran away.

However, he was caught and handed over to police. Valentine was picked up and rushed to the GPH, where she was treated and admitted to the ward.
