Mahaica family hurt in horrific crash

Eight persons were injured in an accident that occurred at Diamond, East Bank Demerara around 11:30 am yesterday.

According to one source the Route 44 Mahaica mini-bus was returning from the airport when it crashed into a parked truck. Goordiyal Gansham called `Sunno’ his wife Valini; two daughters, Nalini and Malini; two sons Devindra and Bhojo and their nephew Naresh were all in the bus. A family friend, Kenneth called Bamboo, was also involved in the accident. They are all from Belmont, Mahaica.

According to Gansham’s sister, Kumarie Gansham, the family had taken Kenneth’s wife, who is their close friend to the airport.

The woman said that her brother, his wife and their two daughters are at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

Her brother sustained serious facial injuries, his wife suffered head injuries and both daughters had broken legs.

The two boys were in emergency undergoing treatment and they were not allowed to see them while Kenneth and Gansham’s nephew are also undergoing treatment.
