Police yesterday morning shot a gunman in Alexander Village after he and an accomplice allegedly robbed a couple in Brickdam.

The gunman has since been identified by police as Regan Anthony Rodrigues, 29, of Ramp Road, Ruimveldt and he is currently a patient of the Georgetown Public Hospital, with a bullet wound to his neck. Up to press time last night, police were still hunting the second man, who managed to escape by scaling fences, while a taxi driver who drove the duo to Alexander Village, was in custody.

The two men, who according to a police press release had earlier executed an armed robbery on an Essequibo couple on Brickdam, did not realise that the police were hot on their trail and were about to enter an internet caf
