Man remanded over Alexander Village gun find

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday remanded to prison a 28-year-old man who allegedly had in his possession fourteen live rounds of ammunition and a firearm.

Damian Boyce of Lot 5 Fifth Field, Cummings Lodge, pleaded not guilty to the charges of unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on February 12 police found Boyce near Alexander Village where the ammunition was located. Also, they found the weapon in a trench after Boyce was allegedly seen throwing it there.

In his submissions, Boyce’s attorney said his client had no part to play in the matter and asked for reasonable bail to be granted.

The accused was remanded and ordered to appear at court on April 2.
