Omai donates $1M to Theatre Guild

Human Resources Officer of Omai Gold Mines Limited Norman Mc Lean on Friday sent a cheque for $1 million to Chairman of the Trustees of the Theatre Guild David de Caires, as a contribution to the revival of the Theatre Guild.

Thanking Mc Lean for this generous donation de Caires invited him to visit the playhouse at any time to see the considerable progress that had been made with the project.

De Caires noted that the sound and lighting equipment had been ordered as well as air conditioning equipment and these would be installed as soon as they arrive. The driveway will be surfaced by Courtney Benn Construction Company Limited and Mr Boyo Ramsaroop is undertaking landscaping.

De Caires said that a fair amount of work remains to be done and completion is scheduled for April, 2008. Some $8 million still has to be raised and fund raising efforts are continuing.

He noted that the Theatre Guild committee had recently held a successful Valentine’s Day barbecue fund raiser at the playhouse.
