Region Five gets jeep, motorcycles

On Monday the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development handed over a jeep and two motorcycles to the Region Five administration to boost its capacity.

Minister Kellawan Lall handed over the keys for the 4 x 4 jeep and the motorcycles to Regional Executive Officer Floyd France at the ministry, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said.

The vehicle and the cycles were obtained with funding from central government last year. Lall said other equipment will be handed over to the other regions to help them fulfill their mandates.

Seewchan (only name), Permanent Secretary in the ministry, said that the vehicle will be used to assist with the delivery of education in the region and the motorcycles will be used to help monitor the region’s drainage and irrigation system.
