Mass slayings intended to terrorize -WPO

The WPO says the attacks at Lusignan and Bartica were intended to terrorize and create mayhem and it urged citizens not to cower to the criminals.

In a press release the Women’s Progressive Organisation (WPO) says it is “profoundly shocked and horrified” by the attacks and supports the call by all sections of the country in condemning the acts. It said too it supports government’s call to engage all sections of society in working towards finding a resolution to these recent “terrorist attacks.”

“We must not allow ourselves to be cowed by their reign of terror,” the group said, adding that mixed signals have fuelled criminals who believe they must act with impunity.

The WPO said while no amount of words can bring relief to those who have lost their loved ones, “they are in our thoughts and prayers in this time of darkness.”
