Monday national day of mourning

Next Monday has been proclaimed a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of the victims of the Bartica killings, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon announced yesterday.

The Government Information Agency (GINA) issued a press release to this effect last evening.

Twelve persons including three policemen were brutally murdered by a gang of gunmen at Bartica last Sunday. A similar National Day of Mourning had been declared on January 31 following the Lusignan massacre, during which 11 persons were killed.
