Electronics technician charged with receiving stolen items

A 37-year-old man who allegedly received articles worth $125,000 while knowing them to be stolen, was on Friday brought before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and placed on $30,000 bail.

Brian Rodrigues of Lot 16 Princes Street pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

It is alleged that between February 20 and 28 Rodrigues, an electronics technician, received the said articles from Marlin Jackman, knowing that they were stolen. The articles were the property of Deon Moore.

Attorney-at-law Arul Gajraj on behalf of Rodrigues said that the man had no knowledge that the articles were stolen. According to him, Rodrigues being an electronics technician was presented with the articles for inspection. Gajraj said the accused needed to determine whether the articles could work in Guyana so that Jackman could sell them.

The accused was placed on $30,000 bail and the matter will continue on February 27.
