Duo remanded over gunpoint robbery, other offences

Two men were remanded on Tuesday when they faced Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on charges of robbery under arms, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Brian Forde, 33, of 71 Coghlan Dam, West Bank Demerara and Damion David were both charged with robbing Hyacinth Alleyne at gunpoint of $409,000, property of Western Union, and $5,000 and a Razor cell phone valued $40,000, property of the said Alleyne.

The pair was also charged with unlawful possession of a .38 revolver and six live rounds of ammunition when they were not the holders of a firearm licence.

Both pleaded not guilty to the possession of ammunition charge but were not required to plead to the gun possession and robbery under arms charges.

The matter returns to court on March 25.
