A Mahaica cyclist was killed yesterday after being struck down by a motor lorry on the De Hoop public road.
Lalbachan Sookram, 57, of Belvedere Railway, Mahaica was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Reports are that he was proceeding east on the northern side of the road when he was struck by the lorry that was going in the opposite direction.
Police said in a release yesterday that the driver of the lorry is in custody assisting with the investigations.
