African Heritage Museum hosting lecture on Demerara Revolt

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport through the Museum of African Heritage is hosting a lecture on the 1823 Demerara revolt today.

In a press release the ministry said the lecture is being held to give recognition to the museum. The museum’s Commemoration Committee which was recently formed, is collaborating with the ministry to rehabilitate and upgrade the facility. Professor Winston McGowan is giving the lecture.

The Committee hopes that events such as these will bring recognition to the museum and the African culture it represents. For more information on the function the public is advised to call Christobel Hughes at 226-1415.

The lecture will be hosted at the museum’s Lot 13 Barima Avenue, Bel Air Park location at 5.30 pm.
