Six armed bandits rob Mahaica family

A gang of six brandishing two handguns and four cutlasses early yesterday morning attacked and robbed a Mahaica family of a quantity of jewellery and a suspect is now in police custody assisting with investigations.

In a statement yesterday police said investigations had revealed that Deodat Ramnarine and Basmattie Persaud were in their yard when they were held up by six masked men armed with two handguns and four cutlasses.

The masks were made of ladies’ stocking material.

The police said that during the ordeal Persaud’s brother Darshan Persaud was assaulted. Investigations are continuing.
