Relatives of the three fishermen, who have been missing since leaving on a fishing trip in January, met with Agriculture Minister, Robert Persaud yesterday and requested further searches for the men.

Khobindi Sanichara, whose only child is the captain of the missing vessel, told Stabroek News last evening that further searches had been requested. She said that the issue of whether owner of the boat, Pritipaul Singh Investments (PSI), was assisting the families financially was also raised. She said that the ministry promised to discuss both issues with the company.

Missing are captain of the Palpos III, Mahadeo Ramdeo, 24, of 190 Coldingen Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD), Ramnarine Jagmohan, 46, of 356 Craig Public Road, East Bank Demerara and Jason Marshall, 24, of Albouystown.

They had left on the fishing vessel on January 23, and were expected to return 21 days later but didn’t. They have not been heard from since and their families contacted PSI and also reported the matter to the police and the Ministry of Agriculture. Searches were carried out but nothing was found. A reward has since been offered by the company for any information leading to the recovery of the boat and its crew members.
