More GT&T cable vandalized

More GT&T cable has been vandalized, this time in the Roxanne Burnham area affecting the southern link and disrupting calls to approximately 6,082 customers served off exchanges at Soesdyke, Long Creek, Amelia’s Ward, Linden Central, Wisroc, Christian-burg, Kwakwani and Mahdia, GT&T said yesterday in a press release.

The company said the cut of the cable occurred in the early hours of the morning and emergency personnel were immediately mobilized and work to have service restored was undertaken.

Preliminary investigations by the company’s security department revealed that the perpetrator may have used climbing spurs to mount the pole and cut the cable. GT&T suffered several other acts of vandalism during the last weekend and finds these acts very disturbing.

The company is urging residents in all communities to be vigilant and report any suspicious happenings with regard to GT&T’s infrastructure. Reports of any suspicious or illegal acts can be made to either GT&T’s emergency hotline at 0908 or to the police via any of their emergency numbers.
