President Bharrat Jagdeo in extending greetings to the Guyanese community, especially Muslims, on the auspicious occasion of Youman Nabi urged that the day be devoted to assessing one’s own action.

“I urge all Guyanese to let the day be one of assessment of our own action and mediations, as we join the Muslim community in commemorating the occasion of Youman Nabi,” President Jagdeo stated in his message.

He observed too that the prophet Muhammad’s mission was to relieve man from sins and offer him a way of life which would transform the world into one of peace and tranquillity. “He is an example of total perfection, his image influences the whole world, his radiance continues to illuminate the hearts of believers, and his teachings still stand as divine guidance,” Jagdeo said.

“Therefore,” he continued, “every grateful heart finds it necessary to commemorate the memory of this historic day.”

The President also assured that his government “will continue to recognize the teachings of all religious faiths, so that the country can flourish and prosper in peace and happiness.”
