Police at Leonora have detained four persons who drifted ashore on a boat in the area yesterday.
Stabroek News was told that the men, who were in a boat with a 75 horse power engine, said that they were from Essequibo and had encountered difficulties with their engine.
Police are however checking stations in the Essequibo division to see if their story checks out. In the meantime, the men are being held at the Leonora police station.
