Car stolen on Sheriff found on Cowan St

The motor car which was stolen from a Sheriff Street businesswoman just after 6 pm on Wednesday was found abandoned several hours later on Cowan Street, Kingston, minus a bag containing money and the car keys.
The silver grey vehicle was subsequently dusted for fingerprints before being returned to its owner, Nicola Bacchus.
This newspaper had reported that the vehicle was stolen while the woman was climbing the stairway to her home but her mother who was involved in the incident said that this was not the case and a gun had been used.
The woman, Rajpatie Bacchus, told Stabroek News yesterday that she, Nicole and her 4-year-old grandson, arrived at their Sheriff Street home located next door to the Sheriff Night Club around 6:15 pm.
Rajpatie who owns the Sheriff Taxi Service said that she noticed several men in a Chinese Restaurant and as she was about to open the car door to come out, one of them came up and started to push her.

The woman said she had a plastic bottle in her hand and used it to hit the man who continued to push her. She added that three others went around to her daughter who was in the driver’s seat and placed a gun to her head threatening to shoot if she did not get out of the car and hand over the keys.

Rajpatie said that her daughter willingly got out of the car and the men pulled her son out from the back seat. They then drove away.

She added that the car was later found in Cowan Street. The car keys and the bag containing US$300 and $45,000 were missing.

Rajpatie told Stabroek News that the car was subsequently taken to the Kitty Police Station where it was fingerprinted.
