Man on eight charges of armed robbery, break and enter

A 26–year-old man was remanded on five charges of robbery under arms and three charges of break and enter and larceny when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court yesterday.

Mark Narine of 117 Caesar Street, Agricola allegedly robbed Cobeer Persaud at gunpoint on March 28 at Peters Hall of a number of articles and cash totalling $825,000. On the same day also at gunpoint Narine allegedly robbed Seon King of $8,000 and Chandradai Pulmattie of articles and cash totalling $40,000. On March 20 Narine allegedly robbed two other men of gold rings and other articles also at gunpoint.

Narine was further charged with breaking into the home of Fayona Johnson and stealing a number of articles valued at $56, 000. He also allegedly broke into the homes of Mustafa Mohamed and Sandra Luis on February 27 and stole items valued at $94,000 and $25,000 respectively.

Narine who was wanted by the police for a while will return to court in Bartica on April 16.
