Soldier shot in robbery

A 24-year-old soldier was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday morning after sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg while being robbed.

Corwin Noble of 457 East Ruimveldt was also relieved of one cellular phone, a silver chain and cash by the two robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, during the incident at Front Road, East Ruimveldt, at about 1 am.

Police in a press release stated that investigations revealed that Noble was walking along the road when he was confronted by two men who rode up on bicycles. One of the duo was armed with a handgun and held Noble at gunpoint and demanded cash and jewellery. He handed over the silver chain, the cellular phone and some money. “He however managed to hold on to the unarmed man and the man with the firearm shot him in the leg”, the police said.
