Cabinet has given the green light to contracts for works to be undertaken in the sea and river defence and housing sectors, Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon reported last Friday at his post-Cabinet media briefing.
In public works, a contract was cleared for sea and river defence works entailing cleaning, blasting and painting 79 pontoons for the Demerara Harbour Bridge at a cost of $286.2M.

In the housing sector, the ‘green light’ was given for  the construction of roads in Amelia’s Ward, Phase Three, Region Ten, Linden at a cost of $120.1M
And other contracts which got Cabinet’s nod in this sector were the construction of roads, drains and structures at Coldingen Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, valued at $51.7M; upgrading of roads at Enmore, Haslington, ECD, at $85.6M; and upgrading of roads at Block ‘Y’ Golden Grove Middle Income Scheme, East Bank Demerara, at $54.7M. …..
